  3. Dear Lee, the gentleman was my late father. The picture was taken when he was about 45 years of age. He always wore a faint smile when in a relaxed mood. I heard this beautiful song and was reminded of it - that shadow of a smile...

He passed away 25 years later with that same serene expression. I guess I'm missing him right now.

So you have a pleasant one too, Lee.

PS - really appreciate the chilli red evening gown and Bond perfume. Now I can go out and paint the town a similar colour. GRRRROWL....

Pak Zawi, stick to your canvases hahaha...

  4. Hi Zendra, regret read of your dad.
    Allow me to add.....

    What though the radiance
    which was once so bright,
be now forever taken from my sight.
Though nothing can bring back the hour,
    of splendour in the grass,
    Of glory in the flowers,
    We will grieve not.
Rather find strength in what remains behind.

My father...He didn't tell me how to live; he lived, and let me watch him do it.

And a a truly rich man is one whose children run into his arms when his hands are empty.

You have a nice weekend Zendra, Lee.

  9. Aiseh, somebody going down the nostalgic memory lane to reminiscence the good old days hah? Do u realised that Papa always got a soft spot & favouritism towards their daughters’ lah, somehow, betul tak?

    My papa, gave me some John Wayne’s papa advice to me back then;

“He told me first to always keep my word, and second to never insult anybody unintentionally. If I insult u, u can be sure that was my intention. Third, he told me not to go around looking for trouble.”

Alas, trouble always comes looking for me….hahaha.

    This one for u;

    'No milk today'4 u, heheh

  10. Tor mee,
Wise piece of hokkien advice from your Papa haha. If you go round looking for trouble you'll get your share of intentional insults too.

Hey you thaw me with that song - "my sentimental friend" it was, not "no milk today" (is that your situation today btw? hehe)

neways have got "friend" on me selection today.

    Happy Monday!

  11. Happy Monday, u kai wan seow, it’s more like this one leh;

Talking to myself and feeling old
    Sometimes I'd like to quit
    Nothing ever seems to fit
Hangin' around, nothin' to do but frown
Rainy days and Mondays always get me down

What I've got they used to call the blues
    Nothing is really wrong
    Feeling like I don't belong
Walking around some kind of lonely clown
Rainy days and Mondays always get me down

Funny but it seems I always wind up here with you
It's nice to know somebody loves me
Funny but it seems that it's the only thing to do
To run and find the one who loves me

(*) What I feel is come and gone before
No need to talk it out
We know what it's all about
Hanging around, nothin' to do but frown
Rainy days and Mondays always get me down

Funny but it seems that it's the only thing to do
Run and find the one who loves me

Ya-lor, nice to know somebody loves me…heheh.

AND the grass will grow even taller now it's raining. I think I'll snip some to brew and give to Tok Uban and Tok janggut to drink.

See RA's latest comments on it hehe

  19. Halo2 Major Payne & General RA & Capt Uban (In order of importance),

Zee, tq Capt for that title but I’d to knock it back lah. U c, life is not so rosy for men with titles lah, no freedom, no privacy despite all their wealth. Many decades ago, my scholar gang parted company, 3 of us went for the carefree happy wanderer lifestyle while most of them went back to make their fame & fortune. They chided us for being unambitious & blardy slacker hippies, wasted talent, etc….

True to form, they achieved their goals & became Dato, Tan Sri & what not, have all the materialistic wealth but alas a sad sorry sods life, no peace of mind. Life’s not happy, stress daily, rich ppl type of ill health, no genuine friends, etc…They make it a point to come visit the 3 of us ‘hippies’ (UK, US, AUS) for counselling & therapies every once in a while to console themselves lah, quite depressing stuff. They with their life of the rich & famous versus our down to earth commoner lifestyle (Ok lah, business class/above average but under the radar). They confided that if they can live life all over again, they would have chosen the path, the 3 of us had taken, i.e. comfortable & free & having a life. So they say lah but deep down we know they can’t & the wheel will fall off if they stop. Am I boring u with this stuff? Cie la vie.

So spare a tot for those poor ‘RICH’ bastards ok?…muahaha.

    Salam,

    Tommy

P/S - AHoi RA, Major Payne had hint2 to u with Tom Jones' Green2 GRASS of home mah.

  20. Dr Tommy, are you a psychotherapist for the rich, powerful and famous kah?

For me, I'm just happy for the little things - my own health, healthy childen, healthy husband (even though ..... ok won't get into it again), extended family, roof over our heads, food on the table, little car for nipping here and there, and the time to use anyway I wish. That's retirement in the full sense. RA jelez oso.

As for the title, haha lucky Tok Uban didn't give you Tun-ship. Where he lives it's pronounced "tong"! And Tom Jones becomes "tongjong". How is Tom Jones pronounced in chineses har?

Wah you seem to read things into my song choices. But Green Grass not a hint but memories lah. With RA hints won't work, tell direct also won't work, sometimes. What to do, he's the general mah, waste my time and nafas to whine over long grass. Just bengkak inside boohoohoo. You fix me lah, you psychotherapist what!

  21. What u think I Dr No or Dr Who kah?, maybe Dr Zhivago bolih lah…hehehe, is this the way a normal Dr shud behaves kah…hahaha.

Why u need treatment for, u r already so blissful what, ‘no worries be happy type’ mah. The ‘retirement’ life u do described is so like in ‘nirvana’ oreadi what. U probably just need a tetanus booster shot like me for always sitting on the (rusty) fence in most cases, true or not?

U r the typical MYOB (mind your own business) sort of ppl that gets into everybody nerves.

One good thing about having R & F friends is that we don’t have to fight to see who gets to settle the bill (drawing the wallets)…hahaha…I got no chance lah & I’m not complaining! Great fun to live it up occasionally but kampong boy like me get very uneasy sometimes being pampered like VIPlah. So uncomfortable when u r in the lime light. Such if life!

    Cheers,
    Doc Holliday
    P/S - U can read my writing so I'm not a doctor lah...kekeke
