I used to be an avid user of Windows Movie Maker.
I'd piece together a few snapshots and video clips and plonked in some music, added in some effects and captions and voila, I have myself a video production.
Here's one of my favourites:
Today, after a long hiatus due to waning interest, I tried Mac's movie-maker apps, iMovie on my newish Apple.
It was straightforward enough but there is still a lot of the features yet to play with.
iMovie is programmed to get it's input from iPhoto and iTunes, so I first had to ensure the photos and clips I wanted to use have been imported into their respective libraries.
After that it was just a matter of putting in the captions and video effects while synchcronising the music to the transitions.
The video is then compiled into Apple's .mov format. I uploaded it to Youtube under my Kaizendra channel.
So here is my first iMovie video production:
Note: Youtube has increased the time limit of uploaded videos from 10 minutes to 15. And also accepts .mov high definition format.

Showing Off
I've been producing totally amateurish sillyish videos - what I had categorised in this blog as Zendravids - using the very basic tool Windows Movie Maker.
Not so my first-born, Munirah.
Do I hear GROANS? "Aiyo she's showcasing yet another one of her kids?"
Alah never mind lah. Have to be fair, seem to be fair, and seen to be fair.
Yes, as I was saying, Munirah does media productions FOR A LIVING!
She's been with a studio house of sorts for some-time now and has gained tremendous experience doing basically A-Z.
She is ready to move on now and has requested that I show-off her show-reel here to my little band of blogger friends.
Manalah tau, rezeki ada di mana-mana, atas usaha kitalah untuk mencarinya.
She free-lances as well doing paradigm-shifting bride-and-groom montages for wedding receptions, if anyone is interested.
Anyway, this is her show-reel which has snippets of projects she had been involved in the past two years or so:
Hai mana lagi nak tumpah kuah.... hehe

Double Celebrations
31 st August 1992 was the most memorable Merdeka for our family.
It was the day no. 5 of 5 was born.
As the laughing gas wore off , I summoned every ounce of effort for a final push, and baby emerged.
Congratulations, said Dr. Siti, it's A GIRL, holding her up for me to see.
Praise be to Allah, she's perfect! She's the spitting image of my mom-in-law.
It was 8.10 am and the military jets flew past overhead, marking a double celebration.
After 3 boys in a row, she was a joy for everyone.
Especially so for Kak Long, who had screamed in disappointment "KAK LONG NAK ADIK GIRL, KAK LONG NAK ADIK GIRL, WAAAAAAH" when Azeim was born.
"Insyirah" as baby was named, and Kak Long are now the best of friends.
And Merdeka has never been the same since.
Today she is all of 17 years old, facing the SPM soon and holed up in the asrama school for exam workshops and Latih-tubi, when others are on school vacation.
With the fasting month we are not able to celebrate in a big way, save for a small birthday cake and Nandos peri-peri chicken (her favourite) brought to the school for breaking of fast yesterday, the more convenient day.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY INSYIRAH, STUDY HARD, AND FOCUS ON YOUR DESIRED RESULTS.
This video is especially for you, Sayang........
Stress sangat belajar ye? Sampai jerawat pun bermaharajalela!!!

C'est Si Bon - It's So Good
Come kiddos, let's learn a French song before the next trip!
Let's ghgholll the arrrghghghs...........
The English Translation:
It's so good,
Just wandering around,
Arm in arm, arm in arm,
And Singing songs.
It's so good,
To whisper sweet words - ,
Little nothings,
But little nothing that can be
said again and again.
Seeing our love-struck expression
The passers-by in the street envy us.
It's so good,
To see shining in her eyes
A marvelous promise
That sendsa shivers up and down my spine.
The're so good
These little thrills
That are worth more than a million
It's so very, very good.
It's Good - Yes, It's good
The passers-by in the street -
Arm in arm, arm in arm -
Singing songs -
What a marvelous promise
Uummm - It's good.
I'm looking for a millionaire
With big Cadillac cars
Mink coats - jewels
As big as your fist - you know?
It's good
This little feeling -
Perhaps someone with a little yacht, no?
Aahhh it's good -
it's good - so good-
You know I'm waiting for
someone who can give me
plenty of loot.
Tonight? - Tomorrow?- Next Week?
Dosen't matter when.
Uummm - It's so good - so good
It will be very crazy, no?
It's very good!
Cheeky, haha

Tok Mi's Thoughts on Lady Candidates
Tok Mi has 31 grandchildren ranging in age from 35 down to 9. Only 4 are married so far, which by 40's standards seem rather wanting. Still with 5 great-grandchildren, memang Alhamdulillah.
Nevertheless Tok Mi gets quite anxious when any of her unmarried grandchildren gets posted out-of-state. If it is Penang, Kedah or Perlis, you'll have to watch out for anak mami, they'll never be satisfied with any amount of jewellery you buy them. Off course that is very old school prejudice.
If Kelantan, be careful of the Cek Mek Molek Manja, Abeh here Abeh there, "your son will never be home for both rayas". But I must agree with the manja part though, these cek meks have a certain lenggok in their twang which can be rather mengancam, to say the least!
She told a budding pilot "Make sure you marry a teacher because she only works half a day and will be around more for the children. You can also take them overseas during school holidays on the fare subsidies". That must be a good testament for my brother and his wife, a retired pilot and a retired teacher, respectively.
My own son, and his Mum as well, got a talking to when she got news of him having been assigned to KK. "Sabah ladies are very friendly and hospitable and be careful not to be charmed by their beauty too, otherwise you'll get stuck living in Sabah your whole life. Just look at so-and-so, blah blah blah... blah blah blah... Zendy, watch out for him, I'm telling you this, if you want your son near to you".
Tok Mi... Tok Mi... we tell her, it's all jodoh lah. All we ask is that their jodohs be compatible with them, intellectually, physically, emotionally, are economically sound, are good practising Muslims and raise their children likewise, doakan their parents; does it matter where they come from really?
But then we can't really discount the instincts and intuitions of old folks. They have all that experience behind them, especially of human nature through life. It's good to get their blessings of whatever it is that we intend to do, after all they are the ones who pray for our success and happiness, too.
Tok Mi is flying off on a holiday tomorrow. She's leaving this advice for her hormone-raged grandchildren. Enjoy!
