Just A Post

There is "NOT" and there is "DOG"

Put the two together and you get

...oops

There is "TON" and there is "GOD"

Put the two together and you get

T.O.N.G.O.D

TONGOD

pronounced as TOW-NGOD

So what is TONGOD?

A junior Medical Officer in Sabah might know.

Is it a disease? Or what?

Clue...

AHA!!! It is a PLACE.

A very small town, if you can call it such.

Or just a post.

Population: seems like very few

The "pekan" consisting of a row of about 10 shops.

The MP must have done his job well - there is electricity - notice the street lamps.

And a Kelinik Kesihatan...

With staff quarters!

My son Amin the MO, just out of housemanship, says he is very happy to be posted here.

TONGOD, smack in the centre of  Sabah - 2 hours from Sandakan by proper road (not dirt track).

Again, Good Job, MP!

Are those telephone lines? But whatever, MAXIS connection is ultra loud and clear.

Here is a map of Sabah. Tongod is not even shown but it is 50km away from the nearest civilisation which is Telupid.

Go for it Amin. Serve the villagers here sincerely and professionally.

You won't regret it, Insya Allah...

Dr Amin

So how long does he has to serve in this small town? Doctor is highly regarded in such places, u know.

Just stick to playing doctor only ok?, don't try to play God, it's a big ask :)) Good luck!

Zen, great. It is good for young doctor to serve in the rural area. It is where their service is most appreciated.

Have a nice day.

Hi Zendra, hey....I missed you. So happy you dropped by my pondok as I got no link to your place here.
I have always loved these small villages and what your son is doing here is outstanding! Commendable! Not many would want to be posted here, away from the bright lights.

Here in Canada, very few doctors want to be posted in the boondocks or Ulus, and the government has to resort to bribery, ha ha, enticed doctors with all kinds of benefits etc.

Love the name of this place. There's an Ulu town here with a street called, 'street with no name' Imagine staying here and a friend asks for your address, ha ha.

Love your pics, Zendra....and now we know there's such a place. All my best regards to you and Dr. Amin.
Stay young and keep a song in your heart, Lee.

Thanks for dropping your comments and good wishes everyone. Amin reports for duty today. He'll probably be there for a spell and I think the experience will be priceless. Of course mom will constantly pray for his success and well-being. Thanks again "aunties" and "uncles" :)

Kak Zen,

Your son already completed his housemanship ye.. cepatnya. Rasa macam baru kelmarin you cerita yang dia baru balik dari Jordan.

I love the spirit of the young doctor for wanting to be posted to rural areas. My own son told his mom that he'd like to be posted to Sabah or Sarawak when he graduate. Luckily the mom is supportive... just like you :-)

Hi Zendra, here's wishing you and family the very best of Seasons greetings. Happy holidays, Lee.

Thanks for the wishes Ss, Kama Oldstock...

Oldstock, the JUST graduates have all completed their housemanship as per schedule. Am so proud of them - none had their term extended. Insya Allah your son too will follow suit. Working in East Malaysia I consider to be a good experience - silap-silap they will settle down there hehehe :)

Lee, thank you very much for the greetings. We wish you and the family the same as well...
