A Haunting Melody (Updated)

(21st October - Added a youtube video on correct Mandarin pronunciation)

Beautifully sung by an oldish man at our neighbourhood open house

The original song:

Romanised Mandarin:
ni wen wo ai ni you duo shen
wo ai ni you ji fen
wo de qing ye zhen
wo de ai ye zhen
yue liang dai biao wo de xin

ni wen wo ai ni you duo shen
wo ai ni you ji fen
wo de qing bu yi
wo de ai bu bian
yue liang dai biao wo de xin

qing qing de yi ge wen
yi jin da dong wo de xin
shen shen de yi duan qing
jiao wo si nian dao ru jin

ni wen wo ai ni you duo shen
wo ai ni you ji fen

ni qu xiang yi xiang
ni qu kan yi kan
yue liang dai biao wo de xin

Rough Translation:
You ask me how deep my love is for you,
How much I really love you...
My affection is real.
My love is real.
The moon represents my heart.

You ask me how deep my love is for you,
How much I really love you...
My affection does not waver,
My love will not change.
The moon represents my heart.

Just one soft kiss
is enough to move my heart.
A period of time when our affection was deep,
Until now makes me miss you.

You ask me how deep my love is for you,
How much I really love you

Go and think about it.
Go and have a look,
The moon represents my heart.

Hi Zendra, wow! 2 romantic, heart warming songs. My wife loves Kenny G.
I have that Theresa Teng song in my player my pondok. Love that song.

But my two all times favourites are 'Lover's tears', and 'Love without end'...both now playing in my pondok.
You understand Mandarin Zendra?
Have a pleasant week, Lee.

Wow Kama, respect lah sis. I'm too scared to even attempt reading out the beautiful lyrics for fear of mispronouncing the words. Would love to hear you singing Teresa Teng one day ;)

Zendra-Maria said...

Haha "melody" misread as"me old lady" ;D

The melody's beautiful Capt, and the translation of the lyrics will make you miss your old lady, I can guarantee lah.

Dear Lee, when my neighbour explained the meaning of the title of this song, I was reminded of your blog "Moonlight Rendezvous" haha.

Off course I'll drop by your moonlit teratak to feast my ears.

Sadly my Mandarin is kindergarten level only :)

Awww Zen, that’s so sweet of u; is it especially just for me (blushing), ‘ur ‘ffing’ special buddy/creep fliend…hehehe.

Ahh ‘Deng Lijun’, I cried when she died so young. Later thank god, Anita Mui came in to fill the void but alas she too died so young, so sad.

Hey, I’m not surprise Kak Kam is the first one to jump in. I’d heard her rendition is better than the original, yes her karaoke prowess is renowned in the whole of M’sia blogosphere lah – ‘Moh tak teng’, vely ‘ho yeah’ one u know;

Ini I punya reciprocal lagu;

30/40 years dulu, I’ll sure be belasah by RA, but now I think he’ll be secretly happy that I can help to take some load off him to keep ‘my old lady’ pre- occupied…muahaha…jangan marah je!

S.W.A.L.K,

Tommy,

P/S – Thanks for mowing the lawn RA. Hey rest assured Tommy itu memang gentleman punya kaki; never potong jalan b4, one; maybe the occasional lamp-post’…hahaha.

Flashback your old joke:

Guy advertised wanting a wife, many husband responded ‘U can have mine’....still valid kah? :) Remember or not?

Yea Tommy

Before, 30/40 years ago, if you can sing, I will croon even better. If you go poetic la elegance, I oso can! Belasah? tetap will belasah, one!

Now... sorry, no contest!

The haunting melody that gets her? ... the drone of the lawn mower! :-b

Then you sure can get home cooked dinner and all the afters that go with it. (like helping with the dishes)

RA - aiyah I have to cook dinner 1000 days to get haunting melody one day! Takpa rather that than to have to listen to your, Prakash and Chong's obladi oblada all night!!!

Hey Zee, u must be senyuming kambing ear to ear from all this attention. Y u kiasi one? Once u had passed the half century mark like in cricket, reaching a maiden 100 innings is just smooth sailing mah from here on. The hardest part is passing the forties!

RA, u owe me big time buddy, for keeping this Tai Tai of yours distracted, else she’ll go gallivanting with all the “See Tau Pohs”; go shopping lah, buy shoes, handbags, anti-ageing creams, facial, foot massage, etc... Thinking about house renovations lah, want Masidi Benzs, want to go summer holidays (and M’sia summer is all year round too as a matter of fact) in gay London, Paris, New York (next time she suggest, u just give her a packet of Dunhill cigarette..all those places listed there on the box oreadi mah…hahaha).

RA, Prakash & Chong, hahaha just like a happy2 Made in M’sia, all in the family comedy act kah? What about Aloysius Monteiro & Tuna Singh?

S.W.A.L.P; ouch Like my Linda says, ‘hurts so bad’.

Yea Tommy

We are not quite the Malaysia in make up. Actually very many Lims and Lees of the hippy generation. When we have to, we can and always belt out anything Beatles or Bee Gees. :-)

Unfortunately no Jaswan Singh among us! Tara Singh to do Bollywood sketch :-O

Zendra,
Just got reconnected to the internet after investing in a Celcom Mobile broadband bought at Sua Rasa Shah Alam on Sunday.
I too love Chinese songs. Of course I can never forget Wo I Te' Ni as every Lim, Prakash and Zawi sang that tune way back in 1969.

Zendra-Maria said...

Hello Deen, you're very talented and kama has impeccable taste. I have one of Pak Zawi's. I think you know each other being from Pasir Mas too. Keep on painting ya?

Zendra-Maria said...

Pak Zawi, wah you also know Wo Ai Te Ni! I tried looking for it on utube but no luck - don't know chinese characters except 1,2,3 and the horse.
You know the song Man Li? as a kid I corrupted it to "wa makan kuachi".

I think one day you should duet with kama lah. I'm sure you have a romatic voice, having been on radio and all hehehe
