What Do Women Really Want?

From my Inbox

Young King Arthur was ambushed and imprisoned by the monarch of a neighboring kingdom. The monarch could have killed him but was moved by Arthur's youth and ideals. So, the monarch offered him his freedom, as long as he could answer a very difficult question. Arthur would have a
year to figure out the answer and, if after a year, he still had no
answer, he would be put to death.

The question?...What do women really want? Such a question would perplex even the most knowledgeable man, and to young Arthur, it seemed an impossible query. But, since it was better than death, he accepted the monarch's proposition to have an answer by year's end.

He returned to his kingdom and began to poll everyone: the princess, the priests, the wise men and even the court jester. He spoke with everyone, but no one could give him a satisfactory answer.

Many people advised him to consult the old witch, for only she would have the answer.

But the price would be high; as the witch was famous throughout the
kingdom for the exorbitant prices she charged.

The last day of the year arrived and Arthur had no choice but to talk to
the witch. She agreed to answer the question, but he would have to agree to her price first.

The old witch wanted to marry Sir Lancelot, the most noble of the
Knights of the Round Table and Arthur's closest friend!

Young Arthur was horrified. She was hunchbacked and hideous, had only one tooth, smelled like sewage, made obscene noises, etc He had never encountered such a repugnant creature in all his life.

He refused to force his friend to marry her and endure such a terrible burden; but Lancelot, learning of the proposal, spoke with Arthur.

He said nothing was too big of a sacrifice compared to Arthur's life
and the preservation of the Round Table.

Hence, a wedding was proclaimed and the witch answered Arthur's question thus:

What a woman really wants, she answered....is to be in charge of her own life.

Everyone in the kingdom instantly knew that the witch had uttered a
great truth and that Arthur's life would be spared.

And so it was, the neighboring monarch granted Arthur his freedom and Lancelot and the witch had a wonderful wedding.

The honeymoon hour approached and Lancelot, steeling himself for a
horrific experience, entered the bedroom. But, what a sight awaited him.
The most beautiful woman he had ever seen lay before him on the bed. The astounded Lancelot asked what had happened

The gorgeous beauty replied that since he had been so kind to her when she appeared as a witch, she would henceforth, be her horrible deformed self only half the time and the beautiful maiden the other half.

Which would he prefer? Beautiful during the day....or during the night?

Lancelot pondered the predicament. During the day, a beautiful woman to show off to his friends, but at night, in the privacy of his castle, a hideous old witch? Or, would he prefer having a hideous witch during the day,
but by night, a beautiful, desirable woman for him to enjoy wondrous intimate moments?

What would YOU have chosen?

What Lancelot chose is below. BUT wait .... make YOUR choice before you scroll down to see the answer. OKAY?

Noble Lancelot said that he would allow HER to make the choice herself.

Upon hearing this, she announced that she would henceforth be beautiful all the time because he had respected her enough to let her be in charge of her own life.

Now.... what is the moral to this story?

The moral is .....

If you don't let a woman have her own way ....

Things are going to get really ugly :-))

Every time I read this story, it doesn't fail to amuse me... because the moral has that oh so appropriate twist!

Having said that, I consider myself lucky that my wife hasn't read it... hehehe.

Dear tireless mom, waah you think Merlin had a hand in this? He must be the witch's confidante then hehe.

As for Sir Lance-a-lot, he must be something lah, even King Arthur's wife pun dia kebas.

Hey Zen, I’m the best hubby when it comes to letting wifey having her OWN WAYS, yet Ah Soh is not happy. I let her decide on EVERYTHING and she accused me of being indifference, couldn’t care less, always let her decides on everything, doesn’t contribute any ideas, no initiative, always saying do‘whatever’ u pleases, blah..blah..blah. I ask u how lah like this? No win situation lah…hehehehh.Damned if u do, damned if u don't.

I was having tea & scones with my buddy Matt and u shud see how he talked about being Carpet-bombed, Napalmed & Bayoneted; that was real UGLY!!! The luckiest bast**d is that {indeed,,,,}chap that live in his own paradise island with his best fliend Jane the bitch…muahaha.

Oh well, John Lennon (God bless his soul) said it well;

Woman I can hardly express
My mixed emotions at my thoughtlessness
After all I'm forever in your debt
And woman I will try to express
My inner feelings and thankfulness
For showing me the meaning of success. Ooh, well, well

Woman I know you understand
The little child inside the man
Please remember my life is in your hands
And woman hold me close to your heart
However distant don't keep us apart
After all it is written in the stars

Woman please let me explain
I never meant to cause you sorrow or pain
So let me tell you again and again and again

I love you, yeah, yeah
Now and forever

My answer was quite different from Sir lancelot's non commital one.

But heck, the moral of the story isn't a universally applicable one. It is only true in the bond of marriage.

Those men without such commitment can bolt, slay the witch or just eat the bloody poisoned apple and be spared a lifetime of misery.

Capt Quotes-a-lot, what book are thou reading pray tell? Thou doth motivateth us all with thy quotes, we thank thee hehe...

I quote Uncle Lee of The Moonlight Rendezvous blog, "Women are meant to be loved. Not understood." And if a credit card and a car will do it, so be it Capt. so be it. My take, there's nothing like a warm "bolster". A dog's not the same.

Hey Tommy, I'm no marriage counselor lah, but for me it's OK to let Ah Soh decide on whatever matters that you yourself do not have the expertise or experience, because women can be logical on certain issues and intuitive on others which are helpful when trying to arrive at a decision BUT always, always share the responsibility/outcome of the decision. If you wash hands and not supportive, you showing no love for her man... Poor Ah Soh, nanti she pull you by the ear like Matt's friend kena HAHA!! Who ask him not to plan for contingencies?

OK we all have the child in us, but that's no excuse to relinquish responsibility...

Alah you are OK guy, only making up Ah Pek / Ah Soh stories.

Zendra-Maria said...

Ooops missing comma "showing no love for her, man.."

Zendra-Maria said...

DrSam, there's an art to seeming to let a woman have her own way, but actually you are kind of "pulling" the strings.

;)

Zendra-Maria said...

Major, letting her be in charge of her own life is not necessarily letting her have her own way all the time. A wise woman, within the bonds of marriage, considers all the factors affecting the marriage before deciding to have her own way or not. THAT, to me, is taking charge of her life. Sometimes sacrifices are necessary, which I believe will be rewarded in due time.

So what was your answer to the question, beautiful by day or night?

Ah Pek & Ah Soh (younger days circa 70s), when woman doesn't gets her way....hahaha

Well, Zendra, while much of my comment was in twisted jest, my answer in Lancelot's place was not.

My answer was, Be Yourself.

Omegawd Tor Mee, that's a first for me! The youtube I mean. I've never seen such things before either in real life or play-acting. That poor man, he is patience personified! I'm shocked actually.

Major Jeff? Be the witchy self? Thou art pure of heart, sir :D

That's fairy tale version ma'am. Reality? It goes something like this:

Witch: you decide which half of the day you want me to be beautiful

Lancelot (being a true gentleman): It doesn't matter, darling! It is your life. Thus, I will let you decide.

Witch: Typical gutless man! You cannot even decide something like this and you call yourself a man? yada... yada... yada...

It's true what Mekyam says, ma'am. A man can never win :-)

Note to Tommy Yewfigure: Gimme a high-5, bro!

Zendra-Maria said...

Dear MatB, I daresay real-life Lancelot types are above being intimidated by witches in any circumstances.

To me, men can never win if they don't ever WANT to win. So when they signed on the dotted line, they might as well wave those white handkerchiefs in their pockets and declare a walk-over. My God, that's no fun for us ladies.

Guess that's why witches prefer Lancelots, sama padan, kakakaka... or as Tommy might put it "tak teng lorr"...

As always in life you win some, and you let yourself lose some (shrug). No need to cry buckets over those :D
